Exploring Elémire Zolla’s Spiritual Quest and Legacy

May 29, 2012 is the tenth anniversary of the death of Elémire Zolla (1926-2002). For this occasion, A.I.R.E.Z., together with the BERENDEL Foundation in London, is organizing an international study conference “Labyrinths of the Mind. Visions of the Word. Exploring Elémire Zolla’s Spiritual Quest and Legacy” [Labirinti della mente. Visioni del mondo. L’eredità intellettuale di Elémire Zolla nel XXI secolo”], under the aegis of the UNESCO National Commission, the Region of Tuscany, the Municipality and the Library-Archive Piero Calamandrei of Montepulciano, on May 29-30-31, 2012, in Montepulciano (SI). Stressing the great scientific and commemorative importance of this event, the President of the Association would like to thank all members, old and new, who freely contribute to supporting the initiative and take part in it (see section Registration 2012). A series of study days on the intellectual legacy and work of Zolla will take place during 2012, before and after the date of the conference in Montepulciano. The first of these, in collaboration with Fondazione Il Fiore in Florence, will take place on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, in the Sala degli Specchi, Palazzo Vivarelli Colonna, via Ghibellina, 30, Florence, from 3 to 6 pm, on the theme “Passion for truth in Elémire Zolla’s thought” [“Passione di verità nel pensiero di Elémire Zolla”], with the participation of scholars Franco Cardini, Alessandro Giovanardi, Sergio Givone, Don Alfredo Jacopozzi and Grazia Marchianó. The event will be preceded by a series of preparatory classes on the writer’s thinking, held by Grazia Marchianó at Agnolo Poliziano Classical High School in Montepulciano, organized by Prof. Sandra Mariani. In the auditorium of the same high school, January 18, 2012, 11a.m., a lecture by Prof. Marchianó on “Secret Truths and Metaphysical Experience in Elémire Zolla’s Writings” will introduce teachers and students to the theme of the Florentine Study Day. A presentation of the work of philosopher Hervé Cavallera, Elémire Zolla. La luce delle idee, Le Lettere Edizioni, Florence 2011, is scheduled to be held in the Conference Room of the Chancellor’s Building at the University of Salento, Piazza Tancredi, Lecce, on December 4, 2011, at 6.30 p.m., with the participation of the author and of Grazia Marchianó, who will speak about “Faith and the immaterial dimension in Elémire Zolla’s tinking” [“La fede e l’immateriale nel pensiero di Elémire Zolla”] (See in CalendAIREZ). The Tibetan Lama Tenzin Wangyal Rimpoche, will be coming from the United States and has graciously accepted an invitation to hold a seminar onThursday, March 15, 2012, at 5 pm about Buddhist thinking and meditation in the dzogchen lineage in the Conference Hall of Palazzo Cervini, Banca Popolare dell’Etruria, via di Voltaia nel Corso, Montepulciano. Members, especially those of the Juniors Group, are warmly invited to enjoy the benefit of this meeting in 2012, the year of the Dragon.
